About Me
My name is Sam Shipman.
I'm a Journalism student at Emerson College in Boston, the city where I was born and raised in a news-focused household. I learned a long time ago that journalism is a calling.
Being a journalist requires commitment and passion, and you have to be willing to sacrifice aspects of your free time and your life to chase a story and find the truth.
I want to make a difference through my writing and storytelling. I also like gathering and editing images-- pictures often tell a lot of the story. And I'm committed to digital journalism because it's simply the best way to reach my own generation.
I believe you can't live on the sidelines. We all need to become informed, develop our opinions, and discuss and debate them with others. But the truth is becoming increasingly clouded, and it’s up to me and my generation to reel in the misinformation.
In the past few years, I have watched very closely what's at stake. We are living in a time of climate crisis, intense political divide, the war in the Middle East, the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and coming off a pandemic.
We all need reliable information.
My Ultimate Mission: To find the truth and my own voice, and to learn to present the facts in such a way that will inspire others to be truth seekers, too.
